Protecting trees from winter injury

Over the years we have suggested that one of the ways to protect trees from winter injury is to "ice them up." Numerous times we get questioned on the how and length of time. Here is a picture of what it looks like. This particular picture is probably too long having the water on but the concept still holds true. We want to turn the water on and let it freeze to the trees creating and igloo type protection. This will create an insulation layer for the trees and protect them from the harsh sub temp winds.
